Once you find one that seems to match your style, buy the annual subscription which is always more cost effective than buying single newsstand copies.

Many craft stores offer crop nights that can be another way to learn. Crops bring together groups of scrapbookers to work on their pages together. Basically, they are scrapbooking parties. The store will often charge a nominal fee and provide refreshments for the evening. Many will allow you to use their tools during the crop, as well. This is a great way to try out more expensive tools, like die cut machines and cutters. You could even invite your friends to your home for a crop. Crops allow everyone to share techniques with each other and provide beginners with tips and ideas.

One more option to learn basic techniques is to purchase an album kit. Many album kits come complete with all the supplies you need to make an album. Easy Scrapbooking techniques

One of the great things about scrapbooking as a hobby is that the more you do, the more opportunities you discover. Cutting veterans are always looking for new and interesting ways to incorporate in their album. Here are some scrapbooking techniques, which you may want to try.

1. age gracefully: there are several ways to give your paper documents and vintage feel. Try tearing a recipe in a cookbook unused so that the edges are ragged. Then the spritz with tea, scrunch up until book and smooth again. After the paper dries, you will have what appears to be a fragment of time worn in history. Scrapbooking ideas-chalking tips

When you use chalk, it is possible to create faux leather trim, as backgrounds, add an antique appearance, or to decorate images of clip art and bring together all you layout. There is no need to limit your designs for backgrounds, blocks or accents. You can also use to add appeal directly to you. We all want to share these memories with the people we love, one day, perhaps with our children or grandchildren.

Scrapbooking is only one way to keep alive these memories and presenting them so masterful. Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of an album. Typical memorabilia for scrapbooks are photographs, works of art and of course, paperless. Scrapbook albums are often decorated with various embellishments.

History of Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking is a pastime largely practiced not only in the United States, but also in other parts of the world. Has its history in the fifteenth century in England. Trivial books were a way of compiling information including but not limited to, letters, poems, quotes and recipes. In the 16th century friendship albums became the trend. These were often created as souvenirs of tours in different places. Photo, then became available and the brownie camera invented by Kodak entered into mass production. Scrapbooking Expenses Can Run Away With You-don't Break the Bank

If you are involved in making a scrapbook you might need to be careful not to let your scrapbooking expenses get the better of you. There are a lot of quite simple, but effective techniques which will help you create great pages within your budget.

Creating Your Own Background Page.

If you do not want to get into buying pre-patterned backgound pages you can design your own pages by using several different and less expensive techniques. Stamping is great because you can use the same stamps but by overlapping it, running it down the page as a trim, or coloring it in using different colours, you can create quite different effects.

For an overall pattern or a border pattern, you can use a sponging technique with acrylic colors and get quite unique effects for a backgound page. By using different shades of one color, or contrasting colors you can create something quite special.

Also, if you are comfortable with computers you can design pages that have an overall pattern and thereby creating your backgound page.

Collecting Embellishiments.

It is amazing how many things you will have around the house to your pages-36 pmembellish buttons, ribbons, wool, glitter and all sorts of other nic naks in your hobby and sewing boxes.

You can get some really interesting embellishment pictures from magazines and also from brochures and flyers. Just keep your eyes open as you are flicking through these.

If you are doing a scrapbook about a holiday, collect little Momentos during the holiday to add into the book-they can be anything from serviettes, match boxes, straws, coasters, cards, brochures, note paper and the list goes on. These items can help you tell a real story of your adventures.

Lettering.

It is not difficult to make your own lettering on the computer, print it on card and then you can cut out the individual letters, or various shapes which incorporated the whole phrase. If you are cutting shapes, you might like to print the wording on colored paper. You may even print straight on to your background page. Using a computer can be fantastic because there is such a variety of fonts, line styles and colors. It is really quite endless if you are comfortable with doing this.

Finding Time To Scrapbook.

Scrapbook with friends who are doing it too! This way you can share and swap papers smaller bits that you probably wouldn't use otherwise. It makes a great afternoon's fun and you will feed off each other with ideas and expressions to write on your pages.

You could even have a scrapbooking birthday party, probably with a wine or two, or three or four. Keep smiling, and remember you can always paste over something you don't like!

Ideas for using acrylic paint on your Scrapbooking projects

There are a variety of accents that can be used in any type of scrapbooking project. One of my favorites is acrylic paint accents. Acrylic paint is wonderful, because it is acid-free, dries very quickly, is water-based and when used undiluted, has a great opacity, so you don't need much to cover things with (including errors). You really can use the most water-based, but I love the genre that remember making offers. The colors are simply wonderful! This type of paint can be used with dry foam brushes, stamps or foam brushes and sponges and as a basis or for decoration. There are so many possibilities and here I will describe some for you:

or do not know only accent your picture so thin? Frame with acrylic paint in the color of your choice. Adhere the photo on the layout where it's going to stay (so make sure you where you want it), then take a medium-sized brush DAB dry (about 2 cm wide), a little paint on the tip of the brush and paint along the edges of the photo (Yes, on the photo) and on the same card with just one or two sections along each side to give it a vintage or rummage look. Makes a very special and romantic type frame with crayons and very pop art, using brilliant colors.

or instead of using the ink stamping, take a foam brush DAB in your favorite color of paint and brush a thin layer on the stamp you want to use, press lightly on your layout. If you push too hard may smudge. You must understand how to use the right amount of pressure. Practice on a piece of scrap a few times, before going for the real thing.

or you don't like the color of your Brads, tags or buttons? Paint with Acrylic colours and then cover with brilliance. You've just created your very own special landscaping! How cool is that?!

or you have any paper that does not use never, because you don't like the color or you can't find anything to match it with? What you can do is paint a base coat of white plaster for baiting. That neutralize the original colour of the card, so you can paint only on it for a new color cardstock. You can also use the acrylic paint with a sponge or a stamp to make fancy cardboard from plain paper.

or acrylic paint also works well on transparencies and has great 3D effect, especially if you're using a stamp with the paint. Before you can stamp the paint directly on the layout and when it is dried sticks a piece of transparency on top of the first printed image and stamp a new coat of paint slightly off to one side of the original stamp popping out to give it effect. It looks fabulous!

or to create special titles for layout, you can use paint stencil, but make sure that you are temporarily the stencil to the page before you start to keep moving.

or if you are using a frame of scrapbooking layout, paint or stamp to match the layout. You'd be surprised what a difference!

So, you can see how many ways there are to use acrylic paint for scrapbooking projects, though these are just some of the techniques. There are so many more. Be creative, be bold and do not be afraid to "dabble" here or there "dabble". A little game of words ... Go for it! You will love it, I promise!

Scrapbook stamping and inking techniques

With all new acrylic stamps set out there, certainly makes scrapbook stamping much more interesting. Your scrapbook layout are unlimited; You can choose from dozens of variants and combinations to make the backgrounds stamped perfect. Here are some tips on making some fun background pages.

First of all, chose the right set of stamps, blocks and ink pads. Once you have done, chose the paper with ink colors that you use.

Mud edges is one of my favorite techniques. This is a simple thing and gives a touch antique weather on out your lateral edge mattes or the entire length of your layout. Just keep your stamp pad in his hand at an angle of 45 degrees and swipe your card edges. This will smear a thin layer of ink on the edges. You can do so by laying the flat card and swiping the ink on the paper at a glance inwards. In both cases will be created the same effect.

Merger of pens and pencils, colored water are another fun way to add a little character to your pages. Tag the image with any color of ink you selected. Use the color of the water and the color that you want to add additional color. After you finish taking the pen of mixing and smooth on the color of the water to bleed and the colours blend together.

Second generation injection molding is a fun way to add different shades of the same color of ink you pages. Simply apply ink to the stamp as usual and you stamp on a piece of scrap paper and then once again stamp on your page. Repeat this process until you get the look you want.

Using a brayer and stencils you can create pages. Using a stencil, lay it flat on your card and keep closely. Use the brayer and roll you ink and apply it on top of your stencil leaving the image below. This is a perfect way to get that one kid card that you are looking for.

Stamp kiss is another entertaining twist on the molding. As usual the stamp ink and take another stamp and "Kiss" for the stamp inked and twist. When you turn it, and remove some ink and gives a unique look.

Use a sponge Dauber and ink to create a softer boarder mineral mats on your card. You can also use these to build an image printed as a flower. Rub your Dauber in ink and simply issued along the area that you want.

Stamping ink pads and give you unlimited possibilities when using them in your layout. Be creative and try new things. Try them on tapes to add character, use ink to paint the tape to match your cards. You can use ink and stamps on almost everything. You will be amazed of what they will bring to your pages.

Using Scrapbook Techniques For Unique Christmas Ornaments

Have you been searching for an idea to do family or classroom ornaments on a budget? Making CD photo ornaments is the perfect project. It requires very few tools and supplies.

First you will need to take pictures of the subjects you are wanting to create the ornaments for. If you want to get really creative, you can manipulate your photos for a different look. One suggestion might be to turn a photo into a black and white and then highlight one color or subject in the photo. An example of this might be to take a picture of a child wearing a red Santa hat and turn the photo to black and white and then highlight just the red portion of the hat. This can be done with many photo editing softwares and is very simple with a little practice. The resulting picture is unique and impressive.

Second, you will need to take the pictures to your local photo lab, or print your own 5x7 prints if you have a quality printer. If you print your own pictures, you have the ability to experiment with different types of paper to see which outcome you like best. There are a variety of different papers from heavy weight matte, semi-gloss, glossy, and portrait paper. After your pictures have been printed they will need to be cut down to a 4.75" circle to fit on the CD. If you have a circle cutter this step is very easy. Circle cutters are very inexpensive and can be purchased from most craft stores. If you do not have a circle cutter, just take a CD and trace around the outside edge and then cut with scissors. Adhering the photo to the CD is quite simple. You will need a photo safe acid free glue stick. Using the colored glue sticks that dry clear are helpful in seeing where more glue is needed on the CD. Just cover the CD with glue and adhere your photo being careful to make sure it is centered. It is best to wait at least 30 minutes before handling the CD's once you have adhered your photo's.

The next step involves punching a hole in the top of the CD for the ribbon hanger. Many scrapbookers already have a handy tool called a Crop-a-dile. If you own one of these, punching the holes in the CD's will be effortless. Crop-a-dile tools may be purchased at craft stores for approximately $20 and have a variety of uses. Just set the punch to the desired distance using the 3/8' hole and squeeze down on the CD. Using this tool helps prevent the CD from cracking while punching the hole.

If you do not have a Crop-a-dile, a sharp object or awl will be useful for you. You will have better results if you heat your tool prior to punching a hole through the backside of the CD. Once you have your hole punched, just thread some ribbon through the hole and your ornament is complete. These can be further personalized by writing a message or the year on the back using paint pens. This is wonderful idea for preserving the handwriting of a child. We all have our favorite techniques and those who tend to repeat over and over again, but the joy of scrapbooking is that no matter how you use the same technique, will never be created on the same page twice. Each page in your scrapbooking album will be unique as it should be, even if you use the same technique on all layouts.

Looking through my album, these are my three Favorites obvious:

1. Tear

This is obviously top of the list for me. Almost every second page has tear somewhere in the layout. I tend to use this technique a lot of mat my photographs. I like the look of plain white cardstock framing a picture with a look ragged. This works especially well on black and white photographs.

I also like ripping off feelings or formulation for my layout. Perhaps it is because tear is a technique of rapid and has the element of surprise, as you know enough about how it's going to pan.

Some of my wallpapers are torn in half and glued onto another coloured paper, which can also be very effective.

2. Puzzle

A couple of years ago I bought this wonderful little tool at the craft shop that cuts your photograph puzzle style. Godo then putting together the photo back, and then mat with the angle slightly removed from the rest of the puzzle.

Another way to do what is fun is to cut your photo in random places and then join and leaving even the pieces slightly apart. Make sure that you are not using your original photo for this one.

3. Brads & eyelets

Almost all of my layouts have a brad, eyelet, or both. Invested in a bunch a few years ago and really got my money's worth out of it. Is great for punching holes a little everywhere on your layout for your Brads and also for setting your grommets in place. A good tool will give you loads of holes of different sizes and even options for update for embossing.

Brads & eyelets are useful little goodies that can be used in many creative ways. You can attach embellishments or simply decorate the layout.

1. Sponging-the best is a sea sponge. The high-relief technique can create many different effects. Using different colors or shades of the same color that you can create very interesting work. Ripping and peeling paper is a fun way to add warm, hand crafted accents to you pages. Almost any paper scrap can be turned into a cute accent. Mastering a few tearing techniques will turn your "regular" pages into "wow" pages. You can create beautiful boarders, backgrounds and shapes by tearing paper. Here a few versatile and whimsy ways to decorate your layouts.

Practice with scrap paper to get the feel of how different papers well tear. Once you get the feel for it, you will become a pro and enjoy doing this technique over and over again.

To make a basic tear, hold the paper in your non-dominant hand. Tear with your index finger and thumb, going gently and slowly for you a straight tear or rapidly for a modern look. If your paper is jagged, you may be tearing against the grain. Rotate the paper about 90 degrees and try again.

To tear strong paper, wet the paper with a small paint brush or cotton swab. Once the water soaks in, gently tear the paper. When the paper dries, you will not be able to see the water marks. Using water will make it easier to tear shapes such as circles and hearts.

To tear intricate shapes, sketch your design first. Brush with water to weaken the lines. To make it a little easier, use a scoring blade or stylus and firmly push against your cardstock to weaken it. Tear you paper along the lines.

Remember that different papers result in different looks. Heavy cardstocks are usually died and the color will stay the same with the tear. Patterned paper typically has a white core or light colored edges vellum is so shear that the edges are not visual. Try adding chalk to the edges to give extra dimension. By trying these few techniques you will be amazed at the different looks you will add to your pages.

Use Ranger Distress Inks to create Scrapbook Paper Backgrounds In minutes

What happens when you have wonderful photos or the perfect piece of paper, but you can't find another corresponding document for your project? Well, make your background, of course! Sounds like a daunting project, but here are some ideas that you can complete in a few minutes using Ranger Distress Inks.

Ranger Distress Inks are unlike other ink pads because they react with water. This quality enables you to mix your colors and control the depth of colour too. All you need is a craft mat, some cardboard and some ink pads in colors that work for your project.

The first technique, stamp directly on your mat craft with your pad ink distress, randomly here and there. Then grab another matching or contrasting ink stamp pad and in some places. Next, use a mini-mister and sprays water over inks. You will see the inks on how to react with water. Use a rubber ink brayer inks for roll-over protection structures and mix them around. Grab the paper and press it into the mix. I will lift up your paper and watch the results! If it is too dark or runny, simply DAB with a rag to remove the excess. Let it dry and ready for use!

The second technique is a similar idea, only this time the ink is applied directly to your card. This technique looks nice on a glossy paper or glitter, although it will take more time to dry due to the glossy surface. It also seems great on any normal paper. Grab your distress ink pads and a brayer ink. Roll the brayer directly on ink pad, trying to get all the brayer covered with a light coat of ink. Then roll the brayer directly on your card in one direction. Now your brayer again in a contrasting color ink and roll on your card in the opposite direction. Spray on your card inked with a mini misters to melt inks, DAB away the excess and let to dry.

Both these techniques allow you to do your own background papers to make your projects. Saves a lot of time hunting for just the perfect book and also allows you to add an extra personal touch to your project. You can see these ideas have proven step-by-step YouTubeon.

Two great Scrapbooking techniques for you to use

There are so many great scrapbooking techniques, the variations are endless. In Scrapbooking ideas and solutions of today I'm going to focus on the piercing and painting stripes and gingham.

Striped and Gingham

This is a great scrapbooking technique that transforms plain paper in the background rather than should be suitable for many different themes. I use mostly Watercolor Paper medium weight, but any card weighted average should be fine. You can join the colour, or try to use different colored inks for a multicolored stripe or control. It doesn't matter if the lines out a little shaky, as will add character to the finished result. It is better to work on a large piece of paper or paper and then cut it to size, once it is dry.

To achieve this technique of great scrapbooking, dilute first some ink with water. The ratio is 1: 1 or just a bit more ink water, depending on the saturation of the color that you want to achieve. Soak a brush foam notched (available at most craft stores) in the ink and paint a line across the paper strips in one shot also. Repeat this process, and every new brush stroke carefully to produce a striped pattern on the whole body.
Once it has dried, use the same process to paint stripes perpendicular to the first strips to make a model of percale.

You could also make an undulating effect by moving the brush up and down a bit as it slip through your page.

You can also make small foam cutting notches notched at the end of a standard foam brush.

Piercing

Piercing is another great scrapbooking technique that produces a result that is subtle and sophisticated. This technique can take a long time, but it is quite therapeutic. You could also try with piercing instruments or needles of different diameters for variety.

First of all that you need to choose a template design that you can use your layout. Enlarge it to the appropriate size and track the reason on tracing paper. Lay the track on paper background and hold it in place with small pieces of tape. Place both layers on a foam mat and placed under a mat to protect your work space. Using your piercing instrument or needle puncture holes evenly spaced along all lines of reason.

Remove the tape and tracing paper to reveal the reason pierced. This will give a subtle but good taste at your disposal.
